Maria manages our mobility research programme, exploring new technologies, identifying opportunities and driving innovation.
Maria’s 21 years of experience in the telecoms industry, ranging from design, architecture, technology strategy and research at various departments across BT, is testament to her passion for technology and innovation.
The mobility research team are responsible for a large number of 5G related research activities to improve the services we offer our customers, co-developing and testing a number of prototypes for 5G use, with key technology partners. Technology areas under the programme include Edge Cloud, 5G network slicing, O-RAN , M-MIMO evolution, mmWave, self-learning networks, wi-fi evolution and wireless and wireline convergence, amongst others.
Maria had the honour of receiving a ‘Women in Telecomms’ award by The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) in the UK in 2017. She has co-authored 29 published inventions, 17 of which have become granted patents. She also mentors young professionals and is actively involved in supporting equal opportunities and helping attract talent to our industry.
