BT Security recognized for Threat Intelligence capabilities

BT today announced that its Security division had officially received accreditation from CREST, one of the cyber industry’s most highly regarded industry bodies, in recognition of its leading threat intelligence insight and capabilities.

Threat Intelligence lies at the foundation of cyber security, providing the context and insight to enable both rapid responses to current incidents and strategic security decisions and investments in the long term. By achieving CREST accreditation, BT has been assessed to follow internationally-recognized industry best practice in threat intelligence, as it assimilates and analyses inputs from a wide range of external sources alongside proprietary data from its own global network to protect both its own operations and its customers.

Rowland Johnson, president of CREST, said: “As a long-standing CREST member with existing accreditations for Penetration Testing and Cyber Incident Response, this latest accreditation for Threat Intelligence further strengthens BT’s commitment and ability to protect its customers’ critical business systems and data. High-quality, up-to-date threat intelligence allows organisations to understand the real-time threats they face and underpins measures to prevent cyber attacks and mitigate risks.”

CREST is a not-for-profit organisation that provides internationally-recognized assessment and accreditation of individual company’s security services and solutions. Its accreditations are increasingly seen as a prerequisite to work for major businesses, government entities and financial sector organisations. In order to gain this accreditation, BT underwent a rigorous assessment of its skills, technology, processes and expertise in threat intelligence to ensure these met CREST’s standards.

Kevin Brown, managing director of Security for BT, said: “With the volume, pace and complexity of threats constantly increasing, access to accurate and actionable intelligence is absolutely essential to protecting your organisation. This accreditation is a great recognition of the insight that we gain from our global network, technology and partnerships, and of how this threat intelligence sits at the foundation of how we protect our business and our customers.”
