Operator Connect: landing on a mobile in your hand

Our strategic partnership with Microsoft is going mobile.

CEO, Global

Building on our launch of Operator Connect for Microsoft Teams with BT, we’re forging ahead with Microsoft to develop the next transformational wave in mobile collaboration.

Operator Connect Mobile is a logical evolution of our Operator Connect managed service, which simplifies and streamlines voice collaboration. It will deliver mobile-first experiences for customers looking to get the best from their new hybrid, digital workstyles. It will combine reliable, trusted communications powered by our leading EE mobile network — including 5G — with the power of Microsoft Teams.

During the first year of the pandemic, we saw the number of customers using our managed Teams service almost double. And according to Microsoft, there are nearly 80 million active users of Microsoft Teams Phone.

We’re now investing in our digital service platform and mobile network to provide Teams users with single-number simplicity and the flexibility to work from anywhere.

Our current service offers a simple, secure and resilient way of calling in Teams via BT’s global voice network. Operator Connect Mobile will expand this experience; users will be able to move between devices, add video, share content, record and transcribe and enjoy true integration across their mobile device and Teams.

What does this mean for the CIO? It opens up new possibilities to streamline support and eliminate redundant or duplicate services across fixed and mobile and reduces the number of devices to manage.

When we launched Operator Connect, I said we were helping customers rip up the rule book for voice. In working with Microsoft to develop Operator Connect Mobile, we’re pushing the boundaries further still to deliver for customers transformational change in mobile workstyles.
