Andy Rowland

With over 35 years of experience in IT, Andy is an award-winning business technologist holding a special interest in the evolution of new technologies in the interconnected world.
Andy is responsible for BT’s Digital Manufacturing strategy, his goal being to help his customers exploit and scale the benefits of Industry 4.0. Andy has worked as subject matter expert in resources, manufacturing and logistics for 12 years.
Andy is regularly asked to speak at conferences on topics of interest to his customer base, such as AI, 5G and Edge.
Having joined BT in 1986 as a programmer, by 2000 Andy was building some of the very first eCommerce sites, pushing boundaries by porting them to interactive TV, an award-winning initiative.
For the past 18 years, Andy has led on a number of new propositions that subsequently went on to become mainstream. These included IP-CCTV in 2002, Tele-health in 2004, acoustic sensing in 2008, connected car security in 2014, and most recently Industry 4.0.
Andy’s current focus is on developing a number of strategic partnerships for Industry 4.0 with BT providing custom designed compute, connectivity security services, with an overarching orchestration layer.
Prior to joining BT in 1986, Andy worked as an accountant at PwC.
Andy holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Swansea.
